Winter in Hide-A-Way Hills on Elmer Davis Lake

There is an updated entrance gate to Hide-A-Way Hills as of spring 2016. For security purposes the code changes on a regular basis, and is provided to all property owners. Programmed remotes are available for a fee, and allow convenient access
and eliminate issues caused by inclement weather.

 LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

Hide-A-Way Hills is located just outside of Owenton, Kentucky, the county seat of Owen County. Elmer Davis Lake and Hide-A-Way Hills are not far from the Kentucky River. Owenton's location in the exact center of the triangle formed by Cincinnati, Lexington, and Louisville make it an ideal escape both because it is in the best kind of 'middle of nowhere' but also conveniently close to three major urban centers (about 1 hour to all three by car). See map at right showing Hide-A-Way Hills' location in the region, as well as the Association map.

Blanton Street, Owenton, Ky. This voucher will provide four free dumps per year. "The program will allow Owen County residents and property owners the convenience of free dumping from 7:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Saturday." (Info and County Voucher Application available here.)

DEPT. OF FISH AND WILDLIFE... DOCKS & STATE LAND
The Department occasionally inspects various adjacent properties with docks, boats, and the area of property 50 feet from the shoreline. Dock Permits should be confirmed up to date, and junk/refuse should be removed from the 50 feet of state land along lake-front lots. Note also that cutting or damaging of trees over 2" in diameter at ground level is not permitted on this state right-of-way (reference 301 Ky. Admin. Regs. 1:016).

BOARD MEMBERS...
Many thanks go to our elected Board Members, Committee Members, and others who volunteer many hours of their time to preserve and improve Hide-A-Way Hills for our property owners. Directors serve for three-year terms, and elections are held annually.

GRAVEL/ROADS...

There just never seems to be enough gravel. Bringing gravel in isn't cheap and we have to lay it down multiple times a year in certain places. That is one major item that Association dues goes for as well as paying on the loan for the pool and basketball court renovation, and blacktopping the entry road.

ANNUAL DUES...
Hide-A-Way Hills depends on the timely payment of mandatory dues and assessments to fund the Association and maintain the significant amount of common property owned by the Association, including the gatehouse, private roads, clubhouse, pool, basketball courts, green spaces and others. Every member is entitled to use and enjoy the common property and it increases all property values. Unpaid dues and assessments constitute a lien on the property and the Association will engage in collections activities up to and including foreclosure to recover unpaid dues and assessments.

The lake is considered a kayaker's heaven. Low-wake, idle speed requirements on boats and no jet-skis allowed make Elmer Davis Lake perfect for fishing and wildlife watching.
